Crabs! Our friend Chris’ parents sent us home from Delaware today with a cooler full of live crabs to steam. Tonight we’ll try our hand at Maryland-style crabs. I’m both excited and anxious. While I firmly believe in knowing the whole story behind the food you eat, I can be squeamish about killing the animals myself. But that’s an important part of responsible eating, and if I want crabs for dinner tonight it’s better that I see them through the entire journey. As Chef Chad Wells of Ale Wife Baltimore said this week on twitter- if you can’t kill the animal yourself you don’t deserve to eat it.
